Banana Fritters Recipe
The favorite fruit of my little son Marco is banana! Whenever the time comes for a snack and I ask the usual question “Marco, what do you want for the snack“, the answer in 90% of situations is „Banana and crackers“. Sometimes, but only sometimes, peach and apples come into consideration, but without bananas, the snack of my little critter would be hell.
For that reason, in my kitchen, you can always find a few fresh bananas. But, the problem can often be grandma and grandpa who, knowing how much Marco loves them, often bring a few more bananas to make their beloved grandson happy. Then, we have a problem. We have 10 – 15 bananas which have to be eaten quickly or begin to rot .
We had a situation just like that yesterday. On the table were a few fresh bananas that I bought on the market, when grandma and grandpa came by for their usual visit with the usual sentence:
„Markooo, look what grandma and grandpa brought! Chocolate and bananas!“
And what now? I looked at my husband, the only man who had the solution to the problem of „surplus bananas“ with his eating capacity! But, he is not really a fan of this tropical fruit if it is not mixed in an interesting dessert combination.
I know! Some time ago a came by an interesting photo on a food blog – Banana Fritters . Chunks of banana mixed into dough and fried on oil. Yes that is something my big gourmand would find interesting.
And so, flour, sugar, Greek yogurt, cinnamon, egg whites and in a few minutes, the fritters dough is ready to put chunks of banana on it. Of course, in that time, the oil is hot end ready for Banana Fritters .
And as soon as you could hear the crackling and feel the smell, my husband was at the door of the kitchen.
„Mmmm, fritters! I was just thinking what I could eat!“
„Yes but these are not your usual fritters. These are banana fritters“ I answered
„Well, OK, let’s try that miracle“ said my husband and threw himself at the hot fritters on which I just put on the sugar. The first, second, third…
Everything was clear! The problem with bananas was solved and my cookbook had a new recipe – delicious Banana Fritters !

Sounds like a great recipe. Can’t wait to try it! The only thing I am bothered by is the name of your blog. Have you thought about replacing God with Gosh? It can be offensive to God to use His name in vain. Sorry just a thought for you.
Any suggestions on adapting this to be gluten free?
I’m sorry Laurie, I can’t help you with that
Any thoughts on baking these? Also once cooked, have you frozen the leftovers (if there are any hahah)?
Hi Nicole,
You can’t bake this because the batter is not thick enough for that, it has to be droped in hot oil, and I think that bannas wouldnt taste good when you freeze it.
Can you substitute the Greek yogurt?
Hi Efie, you can use sour cream(if the batter turns out too thick, add some milk)
I just want to tell you how wonderful these fritters ate! They’ve become one of my family’s favorite since the first time I prepared them. Thanks for the recipe!!!
Thanks Lidia, I am so glad about that.
Omg! Awesome recipe cannot wait to try it !!!
Just looking at the photos of the Banana Fritters makes me anxious to try them. That will be my next thing to do. Thank you for sharing.
P.S. I use God’s Name and think it is okay because it is He who gives us witty ideas and new inventions. And guess what! They make people happy!! To me, it is a blessing to find wonderful ideas like this and when I do find them, I say, “Oh. My, God!” Especially after I’ve eaten it and it is good.
[…] And one more fruity donut for good measure. (The fruit content totally makes them health food, right??) Learn how to make your own banana fritters with a recipe from OMG Chocolate Desserts. There is actually no chocolate in the recipe itself, but with bananas and chocolate playing so nicely together, I’m betting a dip or a drizzle would be the perfect finishing touch! Did you leave something out? This doesn’t come out liquidy at all
Hi Janet, I didn’t leave out anything, but it maybe turned out too thick because the brand of greek yogurt(if it’s too thick), size of the egg you use, or maybe you use too much flour because measuring in volume (with cup) might vary in weight. If you try it next time use 3/4 cup flour anf add more later if you need.

What brand Greek yogurt do you recommend?
Hi Christina, I don’t have favorite brand, you can use Chobani or any other you prefer
Hi….I’m allergic to all dairy, so can I use soy yogurt and soy or almond milk (If one needs to add milk)??
Hi Jacquie, I think it soy yogurt could work, maybe you will need to adjust the volume because I don’t know how thick soy yogurt is.
