How much time do you need to mix a cup of flour, a cup of milk, a cup of sugar and a teaspoon of baking powder, and then pour that mix over melted butter and over all that, add the peaches from the can? All in all two or three minutes and you are ready for baking it in the oven.

All I can say is Wow! Looks delish. Gonna make this tonight.
Thanks Connie,I hope you’ll like it 🙂
I made this today. I baked it for 60 min. and it was still doughy. The batter didn’t raise to the top lie it was suppose to. It was stuck on the bottom of the dish and very hard to serve. We had company; I served it , but I was very disappointed with it.
The same happened to me so disappointed Threw it in the garbage. I love peach cobbler but can’t bake looking for simple to do cobbler12/ 30/19
Time and again I come back to this same recipe. I love it and so does my family! Nice texture from the heavy syrup and I added cinnamon and vanilla to my batter!
Made this twice. First time it was awesome, second time I didn’t put in enough milk plus my fruit was hot—big mistake. Will cool the fruit (berries) FIRST, then proceed!!! I also bake it over an hour!
I used self-rising flour and it was awesome. I also used 1/2 cup of milk and 1/2 cup of the juice from Freestone Peaches and 1/2 cup of sugar.
Are you sure your baking powder was good? I’ve made this several times, like you I decrease sugar by half, but other than that it’s turned out good.
Making this now and definitely bake it for an hour or just a bit longer. I’m almost to 1 hour now. I’m sure it’s going to be amazing! I added cinnamon and sugar to the top of it as well. I’m patiently waiting.
Made this last night, baked for 45 min and looked at it this morning, it sunk in the middle. Why ???
I’ll be tasting it tonite
Can this recipe be doubled in a deeper baking pan?
Peach cobbler has always been what everyone asks me to mke for all family get togethers and I was for sure it was a recipe that I would never forget but this past Thanksgiving my mind went blank when it came to the amount of each ingredient so I knew Google wouldn’t let me down and Alas I found this recipe!
It was exactly what I was looking for except I’ve always used self rising flour and poured my canned peaches in (heavy syrup) directly from the can over the flour, sugar, milk mixture. That’s what has always given it the best flavor for me.
This should say self rising flour! I just made this and I didn’t have self rising flour
If using self rising flour, do you not include the baking powder?
No baking powder with SRFlour
If you have baking powder you don’t need self rising.
Do you think i could substitute frozen blueberries for the peaches?
This is such a great tasting and easy easy recipe !! I needed a little more cook time, but no biggie! Thanks! I’ve made this many many times!
Hi I’m making this recipe do you still use the 1 cup sugar if using fresh peaches
Can I double this for a 9 x 13 pan ?
You can do it, just baking time might be longer
Yall I’ve been making this cobbler for years. B you definitely need to use a can of pet milk omg sooooo much better then whole milk !!!
After reading the comments I would like a couple clarifications on the recipe please.
1. What type of flour do you use? The recipe just says “flour” which suggests “AP” but from comments it seems you use “self raising”
2. Do you drain the peaches? The recipe says “drained” but I’ve seen in comments that you use the juices from the can.
3, Does it matter if the peaches are packed in juice or heavy syrup?
How much butter?
Gary, the ingredients list says 1/2 cup butter
theres no way this cooks in 30 minutes
It takes close to an hour to cook. My mother used to make this almost every Sunday for dessert after our Sunday lunch of roast which she left cooking in the oven during church services. She and I use canned peaches with all the juice dumped into the mix. The cake or biscuit batter rises above the peaches when it cooks. I also use sweetened condensed milk. A dash of salt will tame the sweetness for sure and make it better.
Love love love yaws PRECIOUS passed down simple granny recipes. I grew up in Kentucky with my granny and pawpaw so I should know this already but I’ve clearly forgotten too to much.
Very easy to make, and wow it is so delicious. thanks for sharing.
I’ve made this 2 times now following the recipe, and yes agree, 30 mins didn’t seem like enough time for baking. I also find 1 cup of sugar to be way too much, so I cut it down to 1/2cup.
I an confused, are we supposed to add the peach juice from the can too?
I use all the juice. I use SR flour and & no baking powder. My Grandmother called it a cup-a-pie.
The recipe says drained can of peaches.
This was the first dessert my mother ever taught me. I do add some vanilla and sprinkle some cinnamon on top. My favorite then and my favorite now.
It was awesome.. I had to cook it longer but i saw another rec. pretty much the same but bake it at 400.. So i am going to try that. This is not a cake like cobbler …i like it cause you can cook it to your family’s liking the rec is simple…
My Grandmother & Mom used to make this & it was so very DELICIOUS 😋 with vanilla ice cream 😋😋😋 now it’s the only one I make, , I’m gonna make it for my Grandson 💙 I hope He likes it 🤞🤞🤞
Don’t drain the peaches. It’s so much better with peaches in heavy syrup
So right, this does not cook in 30 minutes. I’m baking it now and heading for 50 minutes. I even turned the oven up a few minutes ago to 375 degrees. I know my oven is calibrated correctly. I check it often and it is a new oven. Just hoping is tastes good.
I just made this. I cooked it exactly 30 minutes. It was delicious. Been making it for years.
On the cobbler , very good, but my cooking time was closer to 60minutes.
Super easy and yummy however it took me about 40 mins to bake. Thanks for sharing this recipe. My hubby loved it.
Going on 60 minutes baking. Checked the recipe to make sure I had the proportions correct. ✔️ I wonder if a 9x 13 or 7×11 dish instead of an 8 x 8 would go cut the time down to 30 minutes I would give more stars but haven’t tasted it.
I’ve been making a very similar super easy to remember peach cobbler for all my adult life. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Melt a stick of butter in a greased 2 and 1/2 qt casserole dish. While butter is melting, in a large mixing bowl, mix 2 cups of SELF rising flour with 2 Cups of sugar with 2 cups of milk whisking all together. Once butter is melted, remove from oven and immediately pour canned peaches in. I whisk the peaches with the butter. Now, pour prepared batter into the peaches and butter. Do NOT whisk the batter into the peaches. Bake in oven approximately an hour to and hour and fifteen minutes. Batter rises to the top as it bakes and is ready once a nice golden brown! It is easy to increase or decrease the size of this cobbler. Serve warm with either whipped topping or better yet, a scoop of vanilla ice cream!! Enjoy!!
I tried to rate this 5 stars but I couldn’t get the stars to work. Made this dessert today. Absolutely fabulous! I used 8 fresh peaches. I had to bake in a 11 x 7” because I had so many peach slices. I decided I needed to add 1/2 cup of flour, a second teaspoon of baking powder and 1/2 cup of milk. I also added a teaspoon of almond extract. Worked perfectly! I sprinkled with cinnamon. I will make this again!
Thanks Cathy!
I made this today and followed your directions. I found it necessary to bake for about 50 minutes. It canme outi golden and bubbly. I can’t wait to taste it!
I have been making this for a long time, and I do still use self rising flour and baking powder. It makes the crust fluffy and rises nicely over peaches and tastes like a cake. I also drain the juice from my can peaches and mix the juice with cornstarch and vanilla , cinnamon and tinge of nutmeg to make a thick rich sweet thickened sauce that I blend in a little bit with batter and use the remaining as a glaze and drizzle over top of crust about 15 minutes before I take it out of oven. Tastes so good, note, I sometimes make this recipe with frozen strawberries and blend in strawberry glaze packages
I make this all the time and we love it. Cook it on the temperature it says to or the crust gets hard. I also watch it in case it gets done.
Two cans of peaches,one drained reserving 1/2 cup of juice.pour peaches over melted butter.mix 1 &1/2 flour,1 &1/2milk,1& 1/2 sugar.pour over top,bake at 350 for 30 min.,pour reserved juice over top,bake additional 15 to 20 minutes.
Have used this recipe for over 50 years for friends and family. As you make it more it is easier to watch the color of the top and know when it is done. Also you can experiment with other fruits, canned pears with a dash of nutmeg and cinnamon is great. Try adding vanilla and with peaches the almond extract works very well. But this recipe is not one you can just set your kitchen timer and leave it…you must check on the color…you don’t want it “crispy or gummy”. Again please don’t judge the recipe after just on try as you will be missing out on some very good eating!
Hi! Wanting to make this tonight, would it work as well with 1 c of coconut flour? Wanting to make it GF
Hi Amanda, I heven’t tried it with coconut flour so I can’t help you, sorry.
Thank you for this super easy and delicious cobbler. I made this tonight and everyone loved it. This is definitely going to be my go to easy dessert. Thanks
Here’s what I found searching it online: In baked goods, you generally want to substitute 1/4 cup to 1/3 cup coconut flour for 1 cup grain-based flour. You will also need to increase the number of eggs.
There are no eggs in the recipe. Does it change when using coconut flour?
Sorry Renee, can’t help you with that.
So easy! So delicious! Thank you!
Used 1/2 cup white sugar 1/2 cup brown sugar and cooked almost an hour.
This has been my cobbler recipe for over 40 years, my husband’s grandmother made it and everyone in the family uses no other recipe for cobbler. I use fresh fruit and if you use selfrising flour you can leave out the baking powder. Great cobbler!!
I used this recipe for years and lost the recipe. I believe this is the one. I tried the Allrecipes one and it did not call for baking powder and it eas a total fail!!! So excited to make this tonight!!!!
ANNE, WHAT DO I NEED TO DO TO CHANGE THE RECIPE TO USE FRESH FRUIT? I KNOW IT WOULD BE MUCH BETTER
Do you dump the whole can of peaches including juice from can or do you drain?
Hi Jenn, you don’t need juice, drain the peaches first.
No u don’t need the juice
I have made this many times usually double recipe use a 9 x 13 pan and don’t put butter on bottom but on top and then sprinkle cinnamon and sugar all over the top and bake for about an hour to hour an a half. Always comes out yummy.
I always add the juice
My mom does too. She’s 89 !
I used French vanilla cake mix on top of canned fruit then sprinkle cinnamon and sugar and pats of butter on top of that. Bake at 350°for about 1 hour
Terrific!
Can you double this and turn out well? Thinking about this for family reunion.
Hi Stephanie, you can double this and use 9×13 inch baking dish.
Do you use salted or unsalted butter?
Hi Heidi, use unsalted butter.
I use salted since the recipe does not call for salt
Salt should always be used in sweet recipes. It balances out the flavor of the sweetness. I always use salted butter .
I agree completely. Salt & sugar compliment each other, works the other way around…just a “smidgen”. 🙂
Judy Johnson
I use self rising flour. I don’t use any baking powder. I don’t drain the peaches. I double the recipe. I bake for one hour at 400°. We have a big family and this turned out delicious every time. It’s one of her favorites! My mother-in-law passed the recipe down to me. It’s been used in our family for 50+ years.
Making this for my Hubby this Father’s Day. Wish me luck!!!!
When you double the recipe do you use 2 sticks of butter or just 1?
How many servings does this recipe make approximately?
Can you do this with other fruits? I’m thinking apple or cherry cobbler with a can of fruit pie filling. Do you think it will work?
Hi Pam, I think it will be OK. Let me know how it turned out 🙂
I have made with fripesh blueberries sprinkled over top before baking. They burst and add the right amount of juice
Mix 1 cup self rising flour, I cup sugar, one cup of milk and pour over melted butter and top wire blueberries..
YUM
Mine didn’t turn out after 30mins. It was still very runny, and I did drain the peaches, but they were fresh frozen from my peach tree not canned. I let them thaw.
I’m sorry Rosemary, maybe you should bake it a litlle longer because every oven is different and baking time also depend on baking dish you use, or it might be the problem because frozen peaches.
I like to use some of the juice, say at least half of it, and mix in a couple tablespoons of tapioca for thickening, as in pies, the amounts can be found on the box. It makes for more yummy fruity-ness, and this also works with other fruits like cherries etc. Just tweak it to your own tastes. Yes I believe it needs to bake longer as well.
Nancy, good idea to use juice and add tapioca. I don’t like to waste anything. I will try with fresh peaches and a bit of tapioca..maybe even nuke the fresh peaches a bit, for a head start.
I cook mine about 50 minutes
I have used this recipe for years! It’s the only one I use!
I actually drizzle a couple tablespoons of juice from the can of peaches over the top and sprinkle a little cinnamon on it before baking. Mine usually bakes closer to 40-45 min. Like you said, every oven is different. Served warm with vanilla ice cream! Then cold the next morning for breakfast!!!!!
Making tonight, but using some fresh mango’s just picked from the tree!
Billie, do you really have a mango tree??
If so, did you plant. Are yall the only one that takes care of it.
Made this for my boyfriend last night and since we can’t resist chocolate we added dark chocolate chips on top of the cake mix– highly recommend! Thanks for the recipe!!

If using fresh peaches do I need to cook them first?
Yes, you should do that.
We folks here in GA never cook the fresh peaches first but we do cook for 50 minutes to an hour. We also use White Lily self rising flour with an extra tablespoon added and everything turns out beautifully.
I used fresh peaches and didn’t cook them first and it came out great. I did on the other hand cook it longer.
Do you add more sugar if you use fresh peaches?
I don’t know what I did wrong but I didn’t care for this cobbler. I like the old fashioned cobbler like my mother always made.
Mine also turned out quite runny and doughy and I even drained my can of peaches. I baked mine for 45 mins maybe even longer. :/
Maybe the ones that were runny didn’t use real butter. Some margarine s have too much oil and water in them. Going to try this recipe tomorrow for Sunday dessert.
I have been doing this recipe for years. It IS amazing. the recipe given to me used the heavy syrup 28 oz can of peaches and after placing the peaches on the batter, I pour the liquid over all and bake. Yea Amazing!!!
Super yummy with fresh cherries, touch of cinnamon and nutmeg. Did have to bake an extra 15 minutes.
This is the recipe I’ve been using since I was in high school and I’m old! lol To make it even easier I also have used the yellow butter cake box mix. And when using peaches be sure to use a tiny bit of almond extract. You don’t want anyone to figure out what the flavor is but it really enhances the peach taste.
This IS a good recipe and has been for over 30 years! We used to call it fruit cocktail cake or Cuppa Cuppa Cake. You can use any canned fruit you like. You need 1/2 tsp. salt or it is pretty bland. By the way, the word you have spelled requiered is spelled required and this recipe is definitely ECONOMICAL to make; not economic.
As long as we got the point, it shouldn’t matter how the word is spelled, just sayin.
Then why take selling in school at all? Just evry one spel how ever they want to and we just finger I ooutt.
😆
Kindness! What’s up with the English lesson?
Oh Karen, this is a recipe not grammar 101.
Spell check is your friend. American schools really are horrible.
YOU ARE AWESOME! found this on Pintrest and my boyfriend was 1) surprised I actually baked something and 2) LOVES it!
Thanks again!
Also, I did have to bake longer.
Thank you Anita 🙂
We made this with 2 cups of fresh peeled sliced peaches. It was too much for my 8×8 pan (good thing I thought to put a cookie sheet under it!) so it overflowed a tad and it did take 50 min to bake until golden brown but IT WAS DELICIOUS!!! I am going to up the fresh peaches to 4 cups and keep everything else the same but put it in a 9×13 pan. Should help the baking time and make it more fruit and less cake. I can’t wait to make it again. Thank you for the recipe! It was really quick and easy to throw together and it reheated nicely the next day.
Did you have to use extra sugar with the fresh peaches?
[…] Super Easy Peach Cobbler from OMG Chocolate Desserts. Can you tell I love easy? I’m not a super skilled chef, I like […]
I made this yummy cobbler a few weeks ago, it was so good I had to come back and mention it! Thank you!
I made this last night. It did not turn out. The “crust” was like rubber.
yum! My husband puts a request in for me to make this every month.
Fresh peaches are better but either works. The old recipe doesn’t use baking powder. And only use a small amount of the cup of sugar in the batter. Sprinkle the rest on top before putting in oven. Carmalizes and makes an even better crust. Homemade ice cream or ice cream tops it perfectly.
Love this recipe!! But as Donna said I also sprinkle sugar on top. And I never made it with baking powder. My friend gave me this revised recipe 20 some odd ago. I loved the way the crust was over the fruit!! I have made 3 blackberries cobblers recently. One I made with Splenda, it wasn’t the same so back to real sugar we went!! I have used Splenda many times before and didn’t have any problems at all. Don’t know why it didn’t taste very good.
Could I make this with fresh berries?
Hi Taimane, you could do that. You could add 2-3 tablespoon sugar, and bake a little longer.
Iv used this recipe for years my family loves it. Every time we have a family gathering I am asked to bake peach cobbler. I use half of the juice to make it a little moist . Comes out fantastic every time. Iv even used blueberries its good also.
Love this recipe! i think i will try for new years, one question, what could i do if i wanted a thicker crust?
Don’t like can peaches I use fresh peaches they taste better
Hi Rosa, if you use fresh peaches you should cook them first.
Can this be made in a crock pot instead? I haven’t bought a new baking dish since my old one broke, so I have been trying to find recipes that can be made in a crock pot instead.
HIi Kristen, I can’t help you with that.
I was able to make this recipe in the crock pot and it turned out pretty good! It took 3 hours on low heat, but it was a hit with the in laws!
Mine came out soggy. Not sure why, made it for my family. No pleased!
Too much sugar for my family I used 1/2 cup of sugar still too sweet will use less next time but it was well loved.
Add a little salt and it will balance out the sweetness
I am making this tonight! But I am wondering why you are not suppose to stir the ingredients together?
I am wondering the same thing. I made it and folded the flour in a little bit. It didn’t turn out so great that way, had pockets of flour on top uncooked after it was done. It was still good, just a little messed up. My question is dump it in untouched into the butter?
You do mix the batter (flour sugar etc) when you pour the batter over the melted butter you DON’T STIR that part.
Why didn’t you stir the batter? You put the butter melted, mix the batter and pour t in, then add drained peaches. I do t understand how you had dry flour.
My husband has a milk allergy. Do you think this would work with margarine and almond milk instead?
Hi Kelly, I’m sorry I haven’t tried and can’t say would it work.
I made mine with coconut almond milk and it turned out amazing!
You can use lactose free milk and it will turn out ok. My fiánce is lactose intolerant as well.
This really is delicious! I used self rising flour and made it even easier! Just 1 of everything…..stick of butter, cup of flour (sr), cup of sugar, cup of milk, then fruit of your choice! That’s it!
Do you drain the peaches before adding them?
Hi Heather, yes, drain the peaches first.
Love this recipe. Over the last 30 years, I have used this recipe a lot to make various fruit cobblers. To give the crust more flavor, add 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon to dry ingredients before adding milk.
Hello! Tried this recipe and it was delicious!! thank you!
Thanks Alice 🙂
I’m a little confused because in the pictures it looks like you used a 13×9″ pan but the recipe calls for 8×8″. Was the recipe doubled for the pictures? I saw a few comments saying that doubling the recipe made it enough for a 13×9″. Thanks
Hi Tracey, it’s not 9 x 13 pan. The dish you see in the picture isn’t standard pan it’s 7 x 9 inch dish, so the volume is the same as 8 x 8 inch dish.
Is the cobbler supposed to be mushy in the middle (The batter?)
I made the recipe exactly to the directions and it looks super runny.
It has now been in the oven for 1 hour leaving it in for 15 more…hoping it turns out?
Do you let it set after it comes out of the oven?
Never mind after waiting 1hour 30 mines they are now burnt on the edges and very very raw in the middle…a waste. I just pitched them.
To much butter. 1/4 c would have been plenty.
I have this recipe from an old church cook book. It’s my “go to” recipe when I want a quick and easy dessert……and it’s so good. I usually add frozen blueberries on top, but when I do add peaches, I add some cinnamon to the batter when mixing. I do drain the juice off.

I believe this recipe would be better with an egg in the batter. The cake part was like runny dough. I did cook it for almost an hour and had to drain the excess butter off the top. Wish I had read the comments first.
I add 1 teaspoon nutmeg and 1 teaspoon cinnamon and I use organic sugar. Today I used fresh peaches instead of canned. Took a couple more minutes to cook. Had a lot of peaches! Yum yum, it is delicious!! ?
I use this recipe with fresh peaches: 1 qt. of sliced peaches. I use I cup of self-rising flour instead of the flour and baking powder. Mix the sugar and flour together. Mix the milk and melted butter together. Add wet to dry ingredients. Pour into casserole and top with peaches. Bake @ 350 for 40 minutes.

Thanks Ann!
My husband wanted some dessert after lunch so I had to whip up something super quick. Had some canned apricots in my cupboard so I googled a quick cobbler recipe with canned fruit and this came up. Followed the recipe to a tee and this turned out unbelievably great! Baked this in a 9-inch pie plate and it was browned and bubbling in 25 minutes. Loved the toasted buttery edges. First time to have cobbler ever and I’m so happy I made it with this recipe. Thanks so much for this, it’s a keeper!

Delicious and so easy. I tweaked the recipe just a bit to add in nutmeg, cinnamon and vanilla as my mother uses in her recipe. I cooked for an hour. I also used the bigger can of peaches. 30 oz I believe. I would like to try it with fresh peaches next time. Thanks so much for sharing this! 🙂
Wonderful
Made this and substituted the flour for the Kodiak Cake buttermilk pancake mix and baked for 45 min. AMAZING!
Deeeeelicious!!! –And super easy, too! This recipe is wonderful!! Thank you!!!
Look yummy! One of my favorite Peach Cobbler, nice to see your recipe, easy to follow, will cook this for family this weekend. Thanks you!
Oh yay, this is definitely my kind of summer treat. Sweet peaches, vanilla ice cream and cookie dough. I am officially in love ? Thanks for sharing.
My mom (in her late 80’s) got a similar recipe from her mom. We use a 13×9 dish and 2 cans of peaches, or one large one. It cooks in 30-35 in that pan.
This was absolutely awful. I cooked it for almost an hour and it still didn’t look done. When I tried to scoop some out, it was solid on the bottom and like rubber in the middle. The “dough” had almost no taste. 0/10 would not recommend.
Next time I make this, I’m going to add the juice with the peaches. It came out kind of dry and took almost 60 minutes to cook!
I made it with blueberries and peaches, added cinnamon and nutmeg. Cook on 375 for 1 hour! Very delicious! My family enjoyed it
Perfect! We totally love this recipe, as it’s cooking right now the biscuits are just gorgeous. Thank you, this was simple!
Just made this cobbler. It is Delicious!
I read the above comments and did cook
for an hour. I also used frozen peaches.
It turned out beautifully and delicious!
One thing I did have to do is cover the edges
as it was getting too brown. Thank you!
It is a great recipe. I added a teaspoon of ginger. I think the addition of brown sugar to the crust makes a difference. I’ll make this again.
My daughter love it much. So happy. It is not work well for the first times but so great taste the next time! Thank your recipe much!
Perfect what you did.
Doesn’t say how much butter and doesn’t say what temperature to bake on
How much butter and peaches?
I made this with fresh peaches, about 2 cups, and did not have self rising flour, which would have made it look more like the picture. I added a teaspoon of vanilla and a little cinnamon to the top. It took 50 min to bake but…. oh my!!! I cannot quit eating it!! I would add just a dash of salt next time because I like a little salt balance to enhance the sweetness but it was amazing! Next time I will try the self rising flour and I bet it will only take the 30 to 35 minutes the recipe says but it was super yummy! My husband loved it too! And it was my first peach cobbler so I am stoked! Peach cobbler for everyone!
Very Good , We just finished it off!
I have used this recipe again and again since discovering it a few months ago. so Delicious, Thank you for recipe!
This is my favorite recipe during peach season. I have never made it with canned peaches, only fresh. I mix 1 stick of melted butter, 1 cup of SELF RISING flour, 1 cup of sugar and one cup of milk together. Pour into a greased casserole. Top with 1 quart of sliced fresh peaches. Do not stir. Bake at 350 until golden brown. Baking time will depend on the size of the casserole dish. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream. Yummy!
Try this — place the entire contents of the peach can in the pan first, spread a box of yellow cake mix on top, 1/2 cup melted butter, cinnamon, on top of that, then cook as per above instructions —- et voila!
might be easy and cost effective BUT the cake sticks to the bottom of the pan. also not very tasty. not one in my family liked it.
I made this just now. I agree with the other bakers, this is not a 30-minute cobbler. Mine took 60 minutes total baking time. Hopefully, it will still taste good. Thank you for sharing your recipe.
If you use self rising flour, you don’t need the baking powder.
Made it again tonight and I do bake it longer than 30 minutes, but it turns out good every time!
Made this tonight. DELICIOUS! I made a few changes…..only 3/4 cup sugar, 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder and 1/4 teaspoon salt. I drained the peaches but saved the juice. Placed the peaches on top of the batter then drizzled 1/2 cup of the juice over the dish. Baked at 350 F for 45 minutes ( until it was golden brown). Plan to use this recipe for Thanksgiving dessert.
Can I use a 9×9 or 9×13 baking pan?
I screwed up and added too much butter so it didn’t rise – totally my fault. It still was tasty. Will be trying this recipe again (possibly tomorrow lol).
This did not turn out well. 1) it does not fit in an 8 by 8, it overflowed and spilled butter all over my oven as the dough rose. 2) I baked it for 45 minutes before I had to pull it out and dump it in to a 7 by 11 to stop the smoke from the butter overflowing on the bottom of the oven. Then I put back in. Total bake time was close to 2 hours after that. The dough JUST started to get golden brown. The peach to dough ratio wasn’t great (very doughy), and I even added more peaches (24 oz can instead of 15 oz). The texture wasn’t great (very doughy even with baking 4 x as long at 350). I would leave 1 star but the UI forces you to pick 2.
I loooove peach cobbler. Great recipe with detailed instructions that even I could follow. The cobbler turned out great and my daughter wants to have it again soon!
I am trying this recipe tonight. I have been making Cobblers for almost 50 years. My brother used to cut a Ladies grass (Large lot) and would not accept anything in payment except one of her Blackberries Cobblers. I lost her recipe but this is close to it. For the Newbies: Cobbler is supposed to be – a cake-like dessert topped with fruit, but as the dough part rises and the fruit sinks (somewhat) a “little bit” of a pudding-type substance should form. This should also bubble around the edges of the cobbler.
Always turns out good. I use self rising flour though and put in cinnamon.
Such a good recipe!! And so easy !
My Grandmother & Mom used to make this & it was so very DELICIOUS 😋 with vanilla ice cream 😋😋😋 now it’s the only one I make, , I’m gonna make it for my Grandson 💙 I hope He likes it 🤞🤞🤞
I really wanted to like this… I followed the recipe completely, but the baking time took a lot longer than it said. Also, the cobbler turned out very “bready”. There was basically no juice. It was really dry. Honestly, if I didn’t have ice cream to mix with it, I would not have eaten it. I would suggest adding the peach juice and probably more peaches as well.
My great aunt shared this recipe with me over 30 years ago and it’s the only way I make peach cobbler. In fact I’m making it right now. I don’t drain the juice though and I use a 20 oz can. Also I bake mine at 375 degrees for 55 min or until the top is well browned.
Used to have a recipe that turned out the same as this but called for Bisquick. Can’t find it but wish I had it back.
Please fix your baking time on your recipe – 30 minutes and it is not close to being done…
Turned up the heat to 400 after the first 30 minutes, and now approaching the 1-hour mark.
It finally starting to brown slightly..
I tried this last night and it was a hit! My family loved it. As I never been really good at desserts but I will definitely make again. Thanks for sharing it!
Delicious! I substituted fresh mangoes for peaches—it’s perfection. Thank you for the delish easy cobbler!
I made this peach cobbler recipe it is amazing and it cooked in 40mins I added an egg and vanilla extract I also drained only half the juice . I will use half the sugar next time. My family love it
So I did this reciept exactly and is was only so so. It looked delicious but wasn’t very sweet, and just didn’t taste quite like what I remembered my mom’s used to taste like. It’s missing something. Idk what. (My mom is deceased so I can’t ask her about her reciepe). I think I may toy with it, maybe try adding a little brown sugar, or something. It wasn’t BAD by any means just “off” .
Love this! Didn’t want to use canned fruit, but peaches are out of season so I used frozen mango, thawed. It was incredible! Thanks for sharing.
60 minutes cooking time for me
It tasted OK, but the texture was just to gooey
Will not make again
This was delicious. Cooked a little longer than 30 mins but I like mine pretty browned. Should the butter be unsalted? I definitely taste salt in the crusty edges. But overall a fantastic, easy and delicious recipe.
This recipe gets a big fat 11 it was so amazing and so simple to make I followed the directions just as told and it turned out awesome so kudos to you lady love the recipe and the only thing I did was that a little bit of cinnamon and it turned out fabulous will definitely be making
Thanks Misti!
Do you use the juice from the can peaches?
I made this peach cobbler recipe it is amazing and it cooked in 40mins I added an egg and vanilla extract I also drained only half the juice . I will use half the sugar next time. My family love it
I’ve never made cobbler like this before – but it’s my new obsession. The ‘crust’ is so dense and moist, I could eat that on its own! Thanks for sharing!
Made this tonight and was very disappointed.
I baked it for almost an hour, and the dough was very spongy. It will probably end up in the backyard as deer and animal food.
Absolutely delicious! It has become a favourite in my home. Everybody loves it.
I add in three or four dashes of nutmeg and a couple of dashes of cinnamon. To die for.
Thanks, Maria!
Tried this and was way to much butter and had to cook for more than 30 minutes it was more like an hour
