Description

Easy blackberry cobbler recipe made with just 5 simple ingredients, juicy blackberries, and a golden buttery topping. This quick homemade cobbler works great with fresh or frozen berries and is perfect served warm with vanilla ice cream.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup self-rising flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 cups blackberries, fresh or frozen
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar, for sprinkling on top

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Lightly grease a 9-inch square baking dish, 10-inch round baking dish, or similar 2.5-quart baking dish.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, stir together melted butter, 1 cup sugar, self-rising flour, and milk until combined and smooth.
  3. Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and spread it evenly.
  4. Scatter the blackberries evenly over the batter, then sprinkle 1/4 cup sugar over the top.
  5. Bake for 50–60 minutes, or until the cobbler is golden brown, the edges are set, and the center no longer looks wet or like raw batter.
  6. Let the cobbler cool slightly before serving. Serve warm, optionally with vanilla ice cream.

Notes

If using frozen blackberries, do not thaw them first. If they are icy or clumped together, rinse briefly under cold water, drain well, and continue with the recipe. Frozen berries may release more juice, so the cobbler may need a few extra minutes in the oven.
